Motherwell close in on Champions League

Motherwell manager Stuart McCall was reluctant to celebrate Champions League football just yet after his side moved within touching distance of a place in Europe’s elite competition with a 1-0 victory at Hearts last night.

McCall’s side moved eight points clear of fourth-placed Dundee United, who will have to win all three of their remaining games to have any chance of denying Motherwell a Champions League qualifying place.

McCall said: “We’re not there yet. If it does end up being the Champions League, then it would be beyond any wildest dreams."
