New signing Michel cleared for Birmingham debut

11 April 2012

Birmingham have received international clearance for new signing Michel in time for him to be available for Saturday's Barclays Premier League clash at Portsmouth.

The 24-year-old Spanish midfielder was signed earlier this week from Sporting Gijon in a £3million deal.

He became City manager Alex McLeish's first signing during the January transfer window in which new owner Carson Yeung has promised to make "£20million to £40million" available for new players.

A Blues spokesperson confirmed: "Birmingham City have received international clearance for Michel and he would be eligible to play against Portsmouth should he be selected."
