Andre Schurrle was tasked with leading Chelsea's forward line for the quarter-final first leg at Paris St Germain as Jose Mourinho finally appeared to lose patience with Fernando Torres.

Schurrle was selected as a 'false nine' in a side showing two changes from the one which began last Saturday's Premier League loss at Crystal Palace, with Ramires and Willian in for the ineligible Nemanja Matic and Torres.

Germany international Schurrle performed the same role against Manchester United last August in a goalless draw and Mourinho may settle for a similar scoreline against a PSG side featuring former Chelsea defender Alex and led by Zlatan Ibrahimovic.

PSG: Sirigu, Jallet, Alex, Thiago Silva, Maxwell, Verratti, Thiago Motta, Matuidi, Cavani, Ibrahimovic, Lavezzi. Subs: Douchez, Cabaye, Marquinhos, Digne, Rabiot, Pastore, Lucas Moura.

Chelsea: Cech, Ivanovic, Cahill, Terry, Azpilicueta, Ramires, Luiz, Willian, Oscar, Hazard, Schurrle. Subs: Schwarzer, Lampard, Torres, Mikel, Ba, Ake, Kalas.
