The former Chelsea goalkeeper expects Petr Cech to leave Stamford Bridge after falling below Thibaut Courtois in the pecking order.

Beasant, who was speaking at the Soccerex Global Convention in Manchester, made 133 appearances for Chelsea from 1989 to 1993 and believes the time has come for the Czech goalkeeper to leave the club following Courtois’ return to Stamford Bridge.

Jose Mourinho strengthened his squad with no fewer than six signings, including Didier Drogba, Loic Remy, Filipe Luis, Diego Costa and Cesc Fabregas, and Beasant believes the Spanish duo represent the best pieces of transfer business from the summer.

Beasant expects Chelsea to be among the main challengers for the title this season – with stiff competition coming from reigning champions Manchester City.

During his 35-year playing career Beasant made two international appearances for England, and he’s praised Arsene Wenger’s decision to bring Danny Welbeck to the Emirates, insisting that the England international will add a new dimension to Arsenal’s attack.
