Romelu Lukaku is perfect Diego Costa replacement but will never be Didier Drogba for Chelsea, says Ray Wilkins

Romelu Lukaku is the 'perfect' replacement for Diego Costa but Ray Wilkins has warned Chelsea they will never find another Didier Drogba.

The Belgian is Antonio Conte's first-choice to replace Costa, who has been told he is not needed at Stamford Bridge, and Everton are holding out for bids of £100 million for a striker who scored 25 goals in 37 Premier League games this season.

Droga scored 164 goals for Chelsea over two spells spanning nine campaigns, winning four Premier League titles, the FA Cup four times and the Champions League.

Wilkins, who has served as a player and coach for Chelsea, if confident Lukaku will prove a fine addition to Conte's title-winners but feels the void Drogba's departure created will never to be filled.

"If you look at Chelsea over the last x amount of years, you’ve had the Drog," Wilkins told Sky Sports.

"They will never find another Drogba, he was the best.

"Then they had Costa and now Lukaku just is a perfect fit.

"If Costa was to go I think he would be the perfect fit to come into Chelsea."
