Roy Hodgson hails his Fulham fringe men

11 April 2012

Fulham manager Roy Hodgson was delighted that fringe players Bjorn Helge Riise and David Elm took their chance in the FA Cup win at Accrington Stanley.

Striker Elm was making only his second appearance of the season while Riise, starting on the right wing, provided a terrific cross for Zoltan Gera's goal in a 3-1 win.

Hodgson said: "Riise and Elm are going to need this type of experience and practice because, for a long time, they've been sitting on the sidelines watching other people play. They got their chance and took it well."

Hodgson, whose team will face Notts County or Wigan in round five, said: "Great credit to Accrington for the fight they put up and problems they caused us."
