Watford want Giuseppe Sannino to be their new manager, according to the former Chievo boss.

Sannino, sacked by the Serie A side last month, claims he will fly to England for talks following an approach from the club who are owned by his fellow Italains, the Pozzo family.

Sannino (above) spoke out less than 24 hours after compatriot Gianfranco Zola resigned as Watford bos.

According to Sky Sports, Sannino told Radio Sportiva: “Me to Watford? I don’t want to say too much but there has been some contact and soon I will fly to England to analyse things and to understand if something can be born. I always want new challenges.”

Sannino has also managed Siena and Palermo and should he be appointed he will have to revive a side, who have slipped to 13th in the Championship.

DANNY WILSON is expected to be named Barnsley boss today. The 53‑year-old started his managerial career at the club in 1994.
