Sean Scannell has been put through extra training as he is “desperate” to face his former club Crystal Palace for the first time at Selhurst Park tomorrow.

The Palace Academy product made 141 appearances for the club (above) before joining Huddersfield in the summer.

Scannell, 22, has been following an intensive 10-day fitness programme after a hamstring injury limited the forward to just one game in the last six weeks.

Coach Glynn Snodin said: “Sean’s a potential match-winner but he’s had a few injuries and this special schedule is a way of getting him to full sharpness. Understandably, he’s desperate to be involved against Palace.”

WATFORD manager Gianfranco Zola is delighted how the squad have settled in this season. Despite 14 players arriving in the summer, Watford go into tomorrow’s match with Nottingham Forest in seventh.

Zola said: “Fair play to the players who have done a great job as they’ve done more than I was expecting them to.”
