Crystal Palace were dealt another defensive injury blow as captain Scott Dann was stretchered off in the clash with Manchester City on Sunday.

Roy Hodgson, who is already without Mamadou Sakho and Joel Ward, fielded a weakened team for the visit of City with one eye on Tuesday's trip to Southampton.

Timothy Fosu-Mensah, Patrick van Aanholt and Jairo Riedewald came into the Palace side with the latter joining Dann and James Tomkins in a back three.

And Dann didn't even last 20 minutes. The captain's knee appeared to lock up as he fouled Kevin De Bruyne on the edge of the Palace box. Christian Benteke was guilty of a failed nutmeg in midfield and Dann went down in pain as he tried to thwart City's menacing attack.

Martin Kelly, who has been playing at full-back for Palace this term, was brought on in Dann's place.
