Shock over Milito snub

11 April 2012

Inter Milan president Massimo Moratti is stunned that Diego Milito is not on the 23-man shortlist for the FIFA Ballon d'Or award.

Moratti cannot understand why Milito has been snubbed despite scoring 22 League goals in his debut season with Inter.

The Argentina striker netted the winning goals as his side clinched the Serie A title, the Champions League and the Italian Cup but has been injured for much of this term.

"I am very sorry for his exclusion from the list," said Moratti. "I called him to tell him that it's an incredible decision."

He added that Ballon d'Or favourite Wesley Sneijder was close to signing a new contract.
