Slaven Bilic has made a swift return to management just three weeks after being sacked by West Brom.

The Croatian has quickly accepted a job offer from China, agreeing to become the new head coach at top-flight outfit Beijing Guoan.

Bilic has signed a two-year contract in the Chinese capital to replace former Lyon boss Bruno Genesio, who left by mutual consent.

Beijing Guoan finished third in the Chinese Super League play-offs in 2020 to qualify for the AFC Champions League.

Former West Ham manager Bilic - whose previous stops also include Hadjuk Split, Besiktas, Lokomotiv Moscow, Saudi Arabia’s Al-Ittihad and the Croatian senior national and Under-21 teams - led West Brom to promotion back to the Premier League after a two-year absence last season, but was dismissed after only 18 months in charge at The Hawthorns in December despite an encouraging draw at Manchester City in his final match at the helm.

The Baggies collected just one win and seven points from their opening 13 league matches under the 52-year-old, who was promptly replaced by proven relegation firefighter Sam Allardyce.

So far the highlight of Allardyce’s miserable four-match reign has been a plucky draw away at champions Liverpool over the festive period, with heavy defeats inflicted by Aston Villa, Leeds and Arsenal.
