Take over Leyton Orient

19 February 2013

Leyton Orient and npower are offering 11 local teenagers an opportunity to take over the club for their League One game against MK Dons on April 13.

The programme will allow selected 16 to 18-year-olds to shadow various people throughout the club, including chairman Barry Hearn and manager Russell Slade (above).

Roles will include preparing the team's warm-up ahead of the game, marking out the lines on the pitch and even helping boss Slade with his team selection.

Orient chairman Hearn said: “Russell knows he will have the final say but we are not just going through the motions with this. The person that is shadowing Russell will be down in the dugout so they will have responsibility and input.

“Depending how sensible their input is will depend how much we listen to them. We will try and involve them as much as we can and if we win the game, Slade gets the chop and the kid gets the job!"

The exciting opportunity is part of work experience placements available to young people across the country as a part of the npower What’s Your Goal? Campaign.

Hearn said: "They will see the logistics of running a club and the decision making process so it will be interesting to see how they get on. I hope it is educational for them and also a lot of fun as well.”

To apply for the opportunity at Leyton Orient, 16 to 18-year olds can enter online at www.npower.com/whatsyourgoalatleytonorient
