Thierry Henry and Robbie Savage have raised £16,100 for NHS Charities Together after auctioning the shirt the Frenchman wore when he scored his 100th Arsenal goal.

NHS Charities Together is an umbrella organisation that works with more than 140 charities across the nation and are currently running the NHS Charities' Covid-19 Urgent Appeal.

Henry - who scored a total of 228 goals for Arsenal - reached his Gunners century against Savage's Birmingham City at St Andrew's back in 2003.

On Twitter, the former Welsh international said: "An incredible £16,100 raised for NHS charities from the auction of my Thierry Henry 100th goal in an Arsenal shirt!

"Thank you so much to the buyer, what an unbelievable amount of money to the NHS.

"Thank you Daily Mirror for setting it up."

Speaking on BT Sport's Early Kick Off show last month, Savage revealed Henry was initially unaware he had reached a century of Arsenal goals during that Birmingham clash and thus gladly exchanged shirts after the final whistle.

On learning of his achievement, Henry asked for his jersey back, only for Savage to have quietly snuck away with it.

Savage - on revealing his long-standing secret - offered to return the now framed no14 home shirt, but Henry agreed for it to be auctioned instead to raise funds for the NHS.
