Third block on transfers for Coventry

Coventry have been placed under a transfer embargo for the third time in as many seasons after failing to file their annual accounts on time.

The League One club blame the delay on their rent row at the Ricoh Arena, where they have not paid their landlords for almost a year as they seek a cut in the annual £1.28million charge.

Chief executive Tim Fisher said: “Without a clear route forward, we are unable to project our budgets and that means we are unable to file the accounts.”

Coventry caretaker boss Lee Carsley had hoped to bolster his squad with a new striker and defender, although centre-back Aaron Martin did arrive on loan from Southampton this week.
