Tottenham's players are feeding off of Heung-min Son's confidence in one-on-one situations, according to former Spurs striker Clive Allen.

Son struggled for game time during his debut season in English football but has become an integral member of the side since returning from the Rio Olympics.

The South Korea international has started the campaign in superb form and, with four goals in four Premier League appearances, has already equalled his goal tally for last season.

Son's rise has proven to be a timely one for Mauricio Pochettino's side, who have been without the services of Harry Kane in recent weeks.

The striker is not set to return for another month but Allen believes Son's willingness to receive the ball in difficult situations has proven to be a valuable asset for the north Londoners.

"Son looks really confident and comfortable within the group at the moment," Allen told Tottenham's official website.

“He looks a real danger at the moment and long may it continue.

“He also has a change of direction and pace which is always vital, especially in one-on-one situations.

"As soon as you see him on the ball one-on-one you are confident he can go by the defender.

"With that in mind, team-mates will give him the ball and give him that opportunity to take players on," he added.

Son has predominantly been used as a winger during his time at Spurs but is set to compete for game time as the side's central focal point after leading the line versus Manchester City.

Vincent Janssen, who has lost his place in the team as a result of Son's form, was overlooked for the clash against Pep Guardiola's side but is determined not to use a 'mental coach' to overcome his slow start on these shores.
