Tottenham's north London derby hero Harry Kane mocks Arsenal fan Piers Morgan over Aubameyang tweet

If you offered Tottenham fans a north London derby win against Arsenal with matchwinner Harry Kane going on to mock Piers Morgan on Twitter, chances are few would have said no before Saturday's Wembley clash.

Morgan's confident pre-derby assertions will have come as no surprise to either Arsenal and Tottenham fans, with the Good Morning Britain presenter backing the Gunners to win at Wembley.

The high-profile Arsenal fan also backed Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang as the man to inflict misery on Spurs, hailing the Gunners' record signing as "the best striker in Europe" after posting a favourable comparison of the Gabon forward's strike rate (100 goals in 117 games) to Kane's (92 in 117).

Aubameyang boasts an impressive record from his time in the Bundesliga with Borussia Dortmund, and made a strong start to his Arsenal career with a goal on his debut in last weekend's 5-1 win against Everton.

To up the ante, Morgan also tweeted a picture of Aubameyang to Spurs' official account on the morning of the derby with the message: "Meet the man who's going to ruin your lives today."

But Aubameyang had already been on the losing side in two games against Tottenham this season, with Dortmund falling to home and away defeats against Spurs in the Champions League group stages.

And to paraphrase a well-worn football adage, 'A north London is a simple game; 22 men chase a ball for 90 minutes and at the end, Harry Kane always scores."

Kane duly scored his 23rd Premier League goal of the 2017-18 season to settle the derby for Spurs with a 1-0 win, making it seven goals in the fierce fixture for the forward.

And the England striker - who posted a picture of himself scoring the winner following the game with a simple "Love a north London derby" message - went on to rub salt into the wounds for Morgan, replying to the ITV host's Aubameyang comparison message with a short and sweet "Thanks".

Kane is now just one goal away from equalling Emmanuel Adebayor's record of eight goals in north London derbies - and by the looks of it, Arsenal fans may want Morgan to stay clear of baiting Spurs' star striker next time around.
