Andros Townsend believes Tottenham are strong enough to compete for a hat-trick of trophies.

Spurs reached the fourth round of the FA Cup with a 4-2 win against Burnley last night to maintain their challenge in three knock-out competitions.

On Wednesday, Spurs host Sheffield United in the first leg of their Capital One Cup semi-final, play Leicester in the FA Cup at White Hart Lane three days later and face Fiorentina in the last 32 of the Europa League next month.

Spurs are also in the fight for a top-four finish in the Premier League and Townsend says they can handle their heavy schedule.

“We have got an opportunity to go far in the FA Cup, the Capital One Cup and the Europa League,” he said. “We have got the squad and the belief to go on a run on all four fronts.

“February and March will be difficult months but, hopefully, we have got the squad to pull it off. There are a lot of games coming up. With a big squad, it is important that the manager rotates the team.”

Mauricio Pochettino made seven changes against Burnley, highlighting the strength in depth of a squad who will have to contend with playing every three or four days.

Spurs fought back from two goals down despite a contender for miss of the season from Roberto Soldado, who somehow hit the bar from point-blank range. Townsend consoled Soldado at half-time and he has backed the Spain forward to

come good.

“Robbie is a fantastic character,” said the midfielder. “I’ve been in that position before, when nothing will go in for you. He played well last night but he is a striker and he wanted that goal. I ran over to him to keep his spirits up.

“He picked himself up, dusted himself down and put a great ball in for Danny [Rose] in the second half. Everyone is delighted for him. We have seen in Spain that he is fantastic striker. He just needs the service and game time. I’m sure once he gets one or two, the goals will start flowing.”
