Tottenham confirm Cameron Carter-Vickers loan as defender joins Ipswich for the season

Cameron Carter-Vickers has joined Championship side Ipswich Town on loan for the remained or the season, Tottenham have confirmed.

The 20-year-old was recalled from his loan at Sheffield United earlier this week, having made 17 appearances for Chris Wilder’s side and making his full international debut for United States during his spell at Bramall Lane.

Pochettino had hinted at a recall in December, though stated that it was certainly was not because of a need for cover in the first team squad.

Having taken a negative stance on loans earlier his Spurs tenure, Pochettino has now sent two of the club’s hottest prospects out on temporary deals in the same week, after Marcus Edwards also move to East Anglia to join Norwich.

Although the defender did not expect any movement in January, he’s now targeting a play-off spot with Mick McCarthy’s side: “I didn’t expect to be called back. I thought I would be at Sheffield for the season but then I got told Ipswich wanted me,” Carter-Vickers told the Ipswich website.

“It’s all happened very quickly but I know Ipswich are a big club and it’s an exciting opportunity for me.

“I looked at the Championship table and Ipswich are only four points off the play-offs so hopefully I can help the team push on and compete for the top six places.

“I’ve really enjoyed Championship football. It’s a demanding league and there are a lot of big clubs in the division. Ipswich are one of them and I’m thankful for the chance to come and play here.”
