Tottenham's Toby Alderweireld was forced from the field on a stretcher during their Premier League clash with West Brom on Saturday.

The Belgium international went down clutching his knee after clashing with team-mate Jan Vertonghen in the Baggies box.

With the scores level at 0-0 and heading towards the hour-mark, Vertonghen leapt to clear a high ball and collided with his team-mate as he tried to find his footing after landing.

The Spurs medical team rushed to the scene of the clash and Alderweirled spent several minutes flexing his right knee as he appeared to persuade the staff to allow him to continue.

But a stretcher was called for and the 27-year-old instead left the field with Eric Dier brought on as his replacement.

It comes after Mousa Dembele was left out of the starting XI for the trip to The Hawthorns after a recurrence of an old injury, while Harry Kane remains sidelined after damaging his ankle ligaments.
