Wayne Rooney has ruled out the chance of him returning to English football on a loan deal from DC United.

With the MLS season over, players could sign a short term loan deal with a Premier League side, as Thierry Henry did with Arsenal in 2012.

Rooney, who joined DC United from Everton following last season and enjoyed a fine campaign in MLS, taking them to the brink of the play-offs, will make one last appearance for England in their friendly against USA on Thursday.

Speaking ahead of the game, Rooney said he would end his career Stateside.

“I’ve seen talk of a loan back here and I’m not prepared to do that," Rooney said.

"With my family, it wouldn’t be fair to come back and forward.

"I made the decision to obviously go to the States. When I make a decision, I tend to stick to it. It's important that I give my full commitment to DC.

"I will finish my career there"
