Chelsea's interim coach Guus Hiddink believes Willian has performed so well in a below par season for the champions that he should be named in the Premier League Team of the Year.

Voting from the Professional Footballers' Association has been underway for some time and an announcement on the leading 11 players in the division will be announced next month.

Speaking on Friday, Hiddink said: "Willian is playing consistently well and also physically he is in great shape. He recovered very well after the intensity of the game.

"Even then you have to say ‘I will rest you for one game’ as we did partly against Norwich. He likes to train and play every day.

"It is nice to see him and for my eye beautiful to see him playing.

"It’s not enough for this club to see him playing in an attractive way but also it is the efficiency with which he is doing it."

He added: "Would I put him in a Premier League Team of the Year? Yes."
