Georgie Welcome happy to force his way into the starting line-up

10 April 2012

Georgie Welcome is determined to force his way into the Honduras starting line-up at the World Cup to enhance his reputation.

Welcome, who has been linked with SPL champions Rangers in the last few days, is set to start the tournament on the bench with Honduras coach Reinaldo Rueda likely to play Carlos Pavon and David Suazo up front in their opening match against Chile.

However, Welcome is prepared to fight for a starting berth and told diez.hn: "The fight for ownership of the starting jersey is intense.

"David and Pavon are two great players, but I have faith that I will win a place. I will continue to work with humility and learn from them. My mentality is to score in the World Cup and I will strive to achieve that."

Asked about the opening match against the Chileans, Welcome added: "The game next Wednesday is the most important. We are working hard to get the three points."
