Gerardo Torrado looking forward to France clash

10 April 2012

Mexico captain Gerardo Torrado is relishing the chance to face France on Thursday.

Both sides go into their second game in Group A with one point apiece after draws in their opening encounters.

France hosted the World Cup in 1998 and beat Brazil in the final while four years ago, they finished runners-up to Italy.

"Everyone wants to play this game," said Torrado. "We have to enjoy it and overcome this challenge.

"In a World Cup there are no easy games, the pressure is never going to be low but it's not a big problem.

"The pressure there is we have to manage it as best as we can."

In the last four World Cups, the Mexicans have progressed from the group stage and after their 1-1 draw with South Africa in their opener this time, Torrado has no doubt in his mind his team can advance.

"This team knows how to deal and manage pressure," he said. "Now we are working towards an intense game.

"Mexico will come out with determination and character to take a result in this game."

Mexico, who are coached by Javier Aguirre, end their group stage against Uruguay on June 22 in Rustenburg.
