Yaya Toure has sent a warning to West Ham ahead of Manchester City's FA Cup tie at the London Stadium tonight, saying Pep Guardiola's side are ready to "fight" for victory.

The Hammers will host their first FA Cup game at their new stadium on Friday evening as they welcome City in the third-round tie.

Toure admits the FA Cup is a "special" competition for him and says the City players will give their all on the pitch against West Ham to ensure they hand the travelling fans joy in east London.

"It’s a special competition for me," Toure told Manchester City's official website. "We want to fight for the fans because they deserve it.

"They pay a lot for their tickets all these years and they support me always.

"I cannot forget that, how they support me and how they sing my name. It is not the same in every club."

The game on Friday will be equally important for both sides, with West Ham and City having been knocked out of the EFL Cup earlier this season.

And Toure added: "To be honest, I am always playing football to win. You have to be realistic and understand sometimes you can lose. But we always start wanting to win.

"It will be a difficult game but the FA Cup is now huge for us.

"We are out of the League Cup so the FA Cup is even more important. We want to win."
