Real Madrid’s increasing interest in Paul Pogba took another turn after Zinedine Zidane appeared to start the charm offensive for the Man Utd star.

As reported by Standard Sport, Real Madrid president Florentino Perez believes Zidane – who returned to the club as manager earlier this month – has the wow-factor to lure the biggest names in world football to the Bernabeu – and that includes Pogba.

Real Madrid were interested in Pogba while he was at Juventus, but were put off by the Italians' high asking price for the midfielder.

The 26-year-old has admitted that playing for Los Blancos and Zidane would be “a dream” , but he would still be expensive now and Real would be more inclined to spend big on forward players this summer.

But it was Pogba who took the focus of the media’s questions, following Marca’s report this week that Real had supposedly held talks with the Frenchman’s agent, Mino Raiola.

“I really like Pogba and you know that,” replied Zidane quizzed on Pogba in his pre-match press conference.

“I know him very well, he's a different kind of player and he can provide many things because of his skills. He knows how to attack and defend.

“However, he's not my player. He plays for United and we have to respect that. He's always said that he likes Madrid.”

Zidane’s comments come off the back of United’s public stance, fronted by manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, that Pogba – nor Marcus Rashford – would be leaving the club.

On keeping the duo, he said: “That’s our aim as a club to be achieving what we have done in the past and that is the expectations here. And of course we are hoping to build a team strong enough worthy of the history of the club

“You have got loads of players who you can build a team around. They are vital for our future.”
