Fulham closing in on Riise swoop

13 April 2012

John Arne Riise's proposed transfer from Monaco to Fulham has moved a step closer after the player agreed personal terms with the Cottagers.

The French club had already accepted a reported £4million offer from the Premiership newcomers.

Riise told icons.com: "I have agreed personal terms with Fulham after meeting with their manager Jean Tigana and with my agents.

"The meeting was held in Tigana's house in Marseille and after just over an hour-and-a-half, we agreed on the personal deal.

"I am very satisfied with the terms, even though there are a few things that need to be sorted out.

"The medical will be in just over a week. The test will be done in London and that shouldn't be a problem.

"My agent Einar Baardsen is almost certain that the deal will go through now."

Norwegian midfielder Riise had earlier hinted that Tigana's presence at Fulham would be the key factor in his decision to move to London, despite interest from Liverpool and Blackburn.
