Fulham sign Dane

Fulham have completed the signing of Charlton midfielder Claus Jensen for £1.25million.

The 27-year-old Denmark international has agreed a three-year deal at Craven Cottage and after telling Charlton he did not want to stay beyond the end of his current contract, which expires next summer.

"I am delighted to welcome Claus to Fulham, he has had a great career in the Premiership so far being a valuable member of both Bolton and Charlton's teams over a number of years," said Fulham manager Chris Coleman.

"I know that he will add a great deal to the squad in terms of his passing ability and his dead ball prowess and I look forward to him becoming an important part of next season's campaign."

Jensen was impressed by both Coleman and what Fulham had to offer.

"Having spoken to Chris Coleman and seeing the facilities here at Fulham, I am more than happy to have made the switch from south to west London, and believe it is the right move for me at this stage in my career," he told the club's website, www.fulhamfc.com.

"I am familiar with many members of the Fulham side and am looking forward to joining them for the remainder of pre-season training and hope that next season's campaign can be as successful for the club as the last."

Charlton manager Alan Curbishley admitted he had to concede defeat in the battle to keep Jensen at The Valley.

"Claus had one year remaining on his contract and made it clear to us that he didn't wish to renew his contract, and that he no longer wanted to play for the club, as he felt he needed a new challenge," he told the club's website, www.cafc.co.uk.

"From the minute Claus was approached by Fulham, it was clear that he wanted to join them.

"Claus has been an integral part of the team for the last four seasons and I would like to take this opportunity to thank him for the significant contribution he has made during his time at the club."
