Harrison vow to Abelyan

13 April 2012

WBO world featherweight champion Scott Harrison today vowed to give William Abelyan the "hammering of a lifetime" on June 19 after resuming training following injury.

The Cambuslang warrior was forced to put back the original date of May 29 after damaging his right bicep in training.

The Harrison-Abelyan fight has been postponed twice before, first in March when Abelyan injured his arm and Walter Estrada stepped in to replace him, but the latest setback has done nothing to dampen the Scot's confidence.

He said: "I'm sure the June 19 date will prove to be third time lucky, but it won't be for Abelyan because he's going to get the hammering of a lifetime."

After receiving intensive treatment from top sports injury specialists, Harrison has now been given the all-clear to resume full training before the big Braehead Arena battle.

"I'm ready to go," insisted the two-time world champion.

"The injury was unfortunate and happened at a bad time as the training was going so well.

"It put me out of action for a couple of weeks which was frustrating but now I'm back in the gym and the arm feels great again.

"I've just started punching and if anything it feels a lot stronger.

"The rest and treatment has done it the world of good and now I can't wait to get it on at last with Abelyan."

Tickets purchased for the original date of May 29 will remain valid for the rescheduled date of June 19.
