Irish Guineas on the cards for Delegator

Simon Milham13 April 2012

Brian Meehan is likely to send beaten 2,000 Guineas favourite Delegator to the Curragh for the Irish version.

The son of Dansili finished second in the Newmarket Guineas and Meehan initially ruled out a tilt at the mile Irish Classic.

But the Manton trainer said: "Delegator has taken the Guineas very well and he is very likely to head for the Curragh.

"It depends on the ground. If it's good, we'll go. We have to take into account that the going might get quite firm at Royal Ascot and we could find ourselves with nowhere to go if we wait for the middle of next month and then find conditions don't suit him."

Meehan, who is eyeing a Group 2 at Chantilly with 1,000 Guineas third Super Sleuth, is also set to run Derby third-favourite Crowded House in the Dante Stakes at York on Thursday.

He said: "Crowded House had a nice breeze yesterday and he continues to please us.
"I'm looking forward to running him in the Dante. He's bang on course."
