Jockey plans finalised for Hills quartet

13 April 2012

Barry Hills has confirmed the selection of jockeys for his quartet of runners in next Saturday's Vodafone Derby at Epsom.

Lingfield Derby Trial winner Perfect Sunday will be partnered by owner Khalid Abdullah's retained rider, Richard Hughes.

The trainer's sons, Michael and Richard, will ride Storming Home and Mr Combustible respectively.

Finally, the ride on Chancellor, the winner of Sandown's cantorindex.com Classic Trial, will go to Richard Quinn.

Hills senior commented: "All four are right on course for the race."

The allocation of mounts for the big race settles days of speculation as to the partnerships set to be in action.

Michael Hills, who rides the majority of his father's string, had the choice of which of the latter trio he would ride and made his mind up after riding work at Lambourn this morning.

Richard Hills confirmed that he would be riding Mr Combustible, the winner of the Chester Vase last time out.

"He stays, he's an improving horse and he's got every chance," he said.
