Johnson leads five survivors

Chris Jones13 April 2012

Martin Johnson will lead an England team with just five survivors from the Grand Slam defeat in Dublin in October for the Six Nations re-match with Ireland at Twickenham on Saturday.

The five, Jason Robinson (who has switched to full-back from wing), Will Greenwood, Jonny Wilkinson, Richard Hill and Neil Back are joined by 10 others who were either injured or not selected for the delayed climax to the 2001 championship.

Johnson captains England for the 22nd time despite punching Saracens hooker Robbie Russell on Saturday leaving him with a cut needing six stitches below his left eye.

RFU disciplinary officer Robert Horner must now decide if there are sufficient grounds to charge Johnson with bringing the game into disrepute. Video evidence of the incident is likely to be studied at Twickenham during the next 48 hours.
