Keown will be fit to face Spurs

Steve Stammers13 April 2012

Martin Keown looks certain to be fit for Arsenal's Premiership and FA Cup clashes with Tottenham after a successful comeback in the reserves.

The England defender made his return last night after an eight-week absence because of a knee ligament injury.

Keown played 75 minutes of the 2-2 draw with Southampton and has reported no ill-affects. He is due for another reserve team run-out on Monday and that should ensure his readiness for what will be a vital week in Arsenal's season.

They play Tottenham in the Premiership at Highbury on 31 March and then Valencia in their Champions League quarter-final. Four days later comes the FA Cup semi-final against Spurs at Old Trafford.

Keown will be needed for the Cup clash because Gilles Grimandi is suspended following his sending off at Aston Villa on Sunday.
