Robert Kubica has left intensive care following his final major surgery in the wake of the horrific rallying accident that has left his Formula One career in the balance.

Kubica has since undergone three separate operations at the Santa Corona hospital in Petra Ligure near Genoa following the crash in the Ronde di Andora rally on February 6.

Kubica suffered multiple fractures to his arm and leg, and partially severed his right hand, resulting in a total of 24 hours in surgery.

Kubica's Renault team have confirmed the Pole is to be transferred to the rehabilitation department where he is expected to remain for at least another two weeks.

It is understood Kubica will now undergo extensive physiotherapy in an effort to get him back to full fitness as soon as possible.

A hospital statement read: "Robert Kubica's state of health is currently satisfactory.

"It probably won't be necessary to undergo more surgery."
