Kuyt deal almost done - Reds chief

14 April 2012

Liverpool expect to complete the signing of Feyenoord striker Dirk Kuyt on Friday morning.

Anfield chief executive Rick Parry confirmed the £10million-rated Dutch international had undergone a medical on Thursday.

He told BBC Radio Five Live: "We hope the results will prove to be satisfactory. All being well it will go through this morning."

Parry refused to criticise Chelsea for their spending spree, described by Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson as 'cavalier'.

He added: "It is a reality we have to live with. They have a good team and a good coach. We know what we have to do so complaining doesn't serve any purpose.

"We believe in managing things our way and think we can be successful. If we didn't believe that we'd give up.

"What you can't do is imitate Chelsea - that doesn't make sense for us. We are happy with the path we are following and are delighted with our acquisitions [players bought].

"In two seasons under Rafa [manager Rafael Benitez] we have improved each season and we are happy."

Parry also confirmed that plans for a new stadium are progressing.

He said: "As we have said many times, we are exploring the possibilities. It is a high priority for us and we remain confident. It is not on the back burner. It is something that is very current and very important."
