Lamps: We've forgotten how to lose

Frank Lampard today insisted Chelsea's players are starting to display the same levels of self-belief as their manager.

Following last night's 3-1 win over Champions League holders Porto, Chelsea are top of Group H and confident Jose Mourinho is already eyeing the knock out stages of the competition saying: "We've got one foot in the next phase."

Taking his lead from the Portuguese coach, who guided Porto to European Cup glory last season, Lampard hinted the team, which has now gone nine games unbeaten, has forgotten how to lose.

He said: "Our confidence is increasing all the time and our self belief just gets bigger. I've never been on a run like this and never had the confidence that we can keep winning. There's a confidence flowing through the team and everyone knows each other's jobs.

"There's a lot of hunger and desire at this club and a lot of young players who want to win things."

Captain John Terry, who headed home the third after goals from Alexei Smertin and Didier Drogba, said: "We had a good run in this competition last year and were disappointed not to go all the way, but it's made a lot of players very hungry. We've got the manager and the lads from Porto who know how to win the competition and that could be the key."

The only blip on Chelsea's evening was the assault on Mourinho by a disgruntled Porto fan but he dismissed the incident.

Mourinho said: "I can understand it. Some people love me and others don't love me that much, but that's just life. Unfortunately these things happen."
