Xherdan Shaqiri has fueled speculation he is bound for the exit door at Bayern Munich.

The 22-year-old has been linked with a move to Liverpool this summer, after impressing for Switzerland at the World Cup.

Since arriving at the Allianz Arena in 2012, Shaqiri has failed to nail down a first team place - making just 23 starts across two seasons.

But Bayern's sporting director Matthias Sammer yesterday dismissed suggestions the Switzerland international will leave in the current window, insisting he is not for sale.

"Xherdan is an important player for the future," the Bayern chief told German newspaper Kicker.

"There are no thoughts at all about selling him."

But in an apparent show of defiance, Shaqiri has offered suitors renewed hope of securing his signature.

The midfielder took to social media on Tuesday and cheekily tweeted: "I live in present... Not in future....;-)"
