Luca Cumani thrilled by classy Seta

Making strides: Luca Cumani says his 1,000 Guineas hopeful Seta has developed well

Luca Cumani's first priority this week might be winning the Dubai Duty Free with Presvis but as the sun beat down on the £2billion grandstand at Meydan, the trainer had a glint in his eye when talking about his 1,000 Guineas contender Seta.

A 16-1 chance for the first fillies' Classic, Seta had blitzed the opposition when winning a maiden at Newmarket last August but was then beaten into third in the May Hill Stakes at Doncaster.

Cumani said: "Seta did a piece of fast work last Saturday and I was very pleased with her. She was leggy and weak as a two-year-old, and though she was impressive on her debut, she then never stopped growing, and that is why she did not win the May Hill.

"However, Seta has really thrived during the winter - physically she is a different filly as she filled out in all the right places. We have not pressed any buttons yet but it is a case of so far so good and the dream is certainly still alive."

Asked whether he would consider a prep-race for Seta, Cumani replied: "We will see how she comes through the next fortnight."

Cumani could not be happier with Presvis's preparation for the Dubai Duty Free, where he will be ridden by Christophe Lemaire.

The colt sailed through his final gallop on the turf course and Cumani added: "Presvis is clearly happier on the grass and was much more himself when he reverted to turf last time.

"The one thing that Presvis does need is pace, so I hope that they go a decent gallop."
