Manchester United star Bruno Fernandes hits back at rumours of Solskjaer bust-up

Manchester United star Bruno Fernandes has hit back at rumours that he had an argument with manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer during their 6-1 defeat to Tottenham before the international break .

The Portugal international was substituted at half time of the match at Old Trafford, with United trailing Spurs 4-1 at the time.

It has been claimed that Fernandes and Solskjaer were involved in an argument in the dressing room, but the 26-year-old has dismissed speculation as an attempt to destabilise the club.

Fernandes insists that, while he was unhappy to be substituted by Solskjaer, he had actually been involved in an exchange with team-mate Victor Lindelof.

"There's been a lot of speculation about that," he told Sport TV after Portugal’s victory over Sweden on Wednesday.

"First it was a discussion with team-mates, as it did not stick, it was a discussion with only one team-mate [Victor Lindelof], as it did not stick now, it is the discussion with Solskjaer.

"I believe it is a way to destabilise the group. What was said is in no way true.

"I was replaced at half-time, it is true, by technical option. The coach told me that the game was almost over and that we would have a lot of games ahead of us. Got it. I was not satisfied but said nothing that could harm the group."

The defeat to Spurs left United languishing in 16th place in the Premier League table, and Fernandes says the players and staff are focussed on bouncing back in their next game.

"Do not use my name, my colleagues or the coach to make trouble at Manchester United," he said. "The atmosphere is good and the team is ready to give an answer in the next game [against Newcastle United]."
