Marshall relishes big test

14 April 2012

Celtic goalkeeper David Marshall expects another eventful evening on his return to Spain tonight.

The 19-year-old pulled off a string of great saves when he replaced the suspended Rab Douglas for the second leg of their fourth-round UEFA Cup tie away to Barcelona. Marshall has since kept his place in the side and will line-up against Villarreal in tonight's quarter-final with the scores tied at 1-1.

He said: "I think I'll be busy. I am confident we can win it, though.

"Villarreal are a good side, we knew that before the first leg. But we created a lot of chances in the second half of the first game at Parkhead.

"It will be a hard match but I believe we are capable of getting through to the semi-final."

Marshall might have earned praise for his display in the Nou Camp but admits he was embarrassed at the level of adulation in some quarters.

He said: "To be on the front pages of a national newspaper was a bit absurd after what was only one match."
