McGhee tells Lions: Shape up

Mark McGhee believes his players have to take a long hard look at themselves if Millwall are not to struggle for the rest of the season.

The Lions manager questioned the commitment of some of his players following last night's 2-1 Worthington Cup defeat against Gillingham at Priestfield and threatened to go into the transfer market if Millwall's results do not improve.

He said: "I have been reluctant to say it, but when we came up I hoped we had a squad that was good enough, but sooner or later I may start to think one or two players aren't good enough.

"The players out there are good enough to have won the game, but clearly there is something missing which doesn't allow them to win games week in, week out.

"If we are going to be more than a middle of the table side somebody has to take a step forward, but if they are not going to we have to go out and get some better players."

Millwall striker Paul Moody celebrated his first start of the season when he cancelled out Marlon King's fifthminute opener, but then he saw Guy Ipoua nip through on full-time to snatch the win.
