Medlycott hails Batty

14 April 2012

Jon Batty's unbeaten 152 ensured Surrey started the second day of their County Championship clash with titlerivals Lancashire in position to replace Sussex at the top of the table.

Surrey coach Keith Medlycott believes the 29-year-old wicketkeeper-batsman should be considered as a long-term England replacement for Alec Stewart, after helping his side to 330 for nine.

"It is down to JB that we have got to this score," Medlycott said. "That was his sixth hundred in two seasons."
