Morgan re-elected ECB chairman

12 April 2012

David Morgan, chairman of the England and Wales Cricket Board, has been re-elected for a further two years.

Morgan, who has been ECB chairman since 2003, will start his new two-year term of office in April 2007 after being unopposed for re-election.

Morgan previously served as the board's deputy chairman since its inception in 1997 and during his time as chairman has streamlined the ECB structure and helped ensure the investment of 21% of the board's income in the grass roots level of the sport.

Morgan said: "It is a great honour to be re-elected as Chairman of ECB and I thank both the first class counties and county boards for their continued support.

"Much progress has been made in recent years and the prospect of developing the plans for the Twenty20 World Championships to be held in England and Wales in 2009 and the further expansion of our community projects in particular 'Chance to Shine' will be a significant focus during my new term in office."

ECB chief executive David Collier added: "David is an outstanding chairman who is widely respected throughout the cricket world.

"He delivered a major change in our corporate governance and the fact that he was unopposed in this election demonstrates the high esteem in which David is held throughout both professional and recreational cricket in England and Wales."
