No pay for Rix's flops

13 April 2012

Portsmouth chairman Milan Mandaric is refusing to pay his players and coaching staff due to their recent poor performances.

Pompey players, who have picked up 11 points in their last 15 games, have had their wages withheld.

Manager Graham Rix and his coaching staff, with the exception of director of football Harry Redknapp, were not paid either.

Mandaric said: "These players expect to go through the motions and then to receive a huge wage packet. This will make them think, I hope."

Gordon Taylor, the Professional Footballers' Association's chief executive, said: "The players have got commitments and they want the money that they're contracted to have. If not there will be problems."
