Northampton coach accuses Irish

Northampton coach Wayne Smith accused London Irish of discrediting the game after his side beat a shadow Irish XV 38-14 at the Madejski Stadium yesterday.

Far from being delighted at avenging the Saints' humiliation by Irish in the Powergen Cup Final and securing a semi-final trip to Bristol, Smith was furious. 'How do you prepare to play against a team that does not take the competition seriously?' he said.
