Pardew future under scrutiny

The future of West Ham manager Alan Pardew comes under fresh scrutiny today as the club hold a board meeting where directors will discuss the latest disappointing run of results.

Although the meeting was always scheduled to be held today, Pardew's position is certain to dominate proceedings after three defeats and a draw in their last four matches.

Following Tuesday night's 1-1 draw with Crewe, Pardew is facing renewed pressure to go. His side play Leicester at Upton Park tomorrow night in a match which has taken on added significance.

It is understood directors are considering whether to wait until the end of the season before replacing Pardew and are monitoring the players' support for their manager. But a short list which includes former Southampton boss Gordon Strachan is believed to have already been drawn up.

The club remain hopeful that Pardew can secure a place in the play-offs. They are one place and two points outside the Championship's top six.

Pardew admits tomorrow's game has taken on huge significance. He said: "Getting the three points is crucial and we've really got to show our mettle."
