Paula's London woe

Missing out: Paula Radcliffe won't be competing in this year's London Marathon
13 April 2012

Paula Radcliffe has been forced to withdraw from the Flora London Marathon on 26 April after breaking a toe and could now have an operation.

The 35-year-old three-time race winner was injured at her training base in Albuquerque, New Mexico, having earlier recovered from a ganglion on the same foot which the medical staff said caused the foot mechanics to alter.

"I am considering surgery to get myself totally healthy as soon as possible and ultimately prevent the bunion causing any more problems," said Radcliffe (left), who has missed two London races through injury.

Radcliffe will be hoping she can recover in time for the World Athletics Championships in Berlin in August.
