Rangers boss De Canio talks up his English

Luigi De Canio claims his grasp of English is now good enough for him to lead training sessions at Queens Park Rangers without the help of an interpreter.

The Italian has relied heavily on translator Ruben Reggiani since he arrived at Loftus Road in October but the manager was confident enough to travel without him to the Championship club's recent get together in Portugal.

De Canio said today: "I use English virtually all the time at training, especially if I am speaking one-on-one with a player.

"With the players, I think I have reached the stage where I can understand and I can make myself understood. The language side of things went very well in Portugal, especially as the atmosphere was less stressful."
