Raper bids for double act

Stuart Raper's Wigan team have their sights set on completing the double after winning the Challenge Cup.

Now they aim to win the league after Saturday's 21-12 victory over holders St Helens in a memorable Murrayfield final enabled the Warriors to lift the cup for the first time since 1995, the last of their eight successive Wembley triumphs.

Wigan performed the league and cup double six times in a row up to the start of the Super League era.

No team is likely to dominate in such a manner again, but Raper believes his side are poised to recapture the glory days.

He said: "I think the big monkey is off our back. People said we couldn't play on the big stage. Well, there was no bigger stage than that one out there at Murrayfield."
