Redpath extends Gloucester deal

Gloucester have confirmed that head coach Bryan Redpath has signed a one-year extension to his contract that will see him remain at Kingsholm until the summer of 2011.

The former Scotland scrum-half, who arrived at the club as backs coach in 2007 after a spell with Sale, took over following Dean Ryan's departure last summer and his first few months in charge saw the Cherry and Whites struggle.

But there have been signs of improvement in recent weeks and the club head into Saturday's Guinness Premiership clash with Harlequins on the back of a run of five games without defeat.

Results during that run have seen them secure a quarter-final place in the Amlin Challenge Cup and a semi-final spot in the LV= Cup.

Redpath, who has also seen forwards coach Carl Hogg sign a similar contract extension, is delighted to have secured his future at Kingsholm.

"We've had a lot of challenges thrown at us this season, from injuries to suspensions, and we've been a bit unlucky to be on the wrong end of a few results," he said.

"However, we have a long-term vision here at the club and we're striving to put the pieces in place to give Gloucester Rugby the best possible chance of long-term success.

"I truly believe that we're moving in the right direction and the players who have signed new contracts recently obviously feel that way too.

"I can now focus on the job in hand and I'm very happy to have signed on the dotted line because it's a great set-up here at Gloucester."
