Ronaldo extends Real stay

Ronaldo: has extended his stay with Real
14 April 2012

Brazilian superstar Ronaldo has pledged his future to Real Madrid after agreeing a two-year contract extension with the Spanish champions.

The striker has was already contracted to stay at the Bernabeu until 2006 but is now tied to the club - who also have England captain David Beckham in their squad - until June 2008.

The move follows hot on the heels of team-mate Zinedine Zidane's decision to agree a new deal last month.

"I am delighted because the truth is I feel fine with the club and in the city as well," Ronaldo told the club's website www.realmadrid.com.

"In the beginning the club showed interest in renewing my contract and I, with great delight, accepted immediately. I am very happy here."

Ronaldo had been linked with a possible move to Chelsea to join Roman Abramovich's Russian revolution, but his decision to sign a contract extension will put an end to the rumours.
